Welcome to Matter Engineering
Matter Engineering specialises in the measurement and characterisation of nanoparticles from combustion processes and nanoparticles in ambient air.
Founded in 2001, Matter Engineering combines over 50 years of experience in instrument design and development with latest research results about nanoparticles. Close cooperation with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich and the Universities of Applied Sciences of Northwest Switzerland and Berne , enhances our scientific background in nanoparticle characterisation and its application to real-world problems.
Key Competencies
* Equipment - design, development and production of equipment to sample, dilute, measure and characterise nanoparticles from combustion and also in ambient air
* Services - nanoparticle emisson measuring and testing programs for combustion engines, boilers, particle traps, fuels and additives at our partners' test benches or at the customer's site
* Transfer - conferences and seminars on nanoparticle measurement
Matter Engineering is proud to introduct in 2010 the first electrical solid particle counter.
A technique to measure number concentrations of solid particles has been developed by Matter engineering already 10 years ago. The NanoMet-C (latest version called ViPR) has been extensively tested and evaluated in the framework of the Particle Measurement Program (PMP). It yields reliable results when used for type approval tests in the laboratory. However, the procedure uses a dilution tunnel and therefore not portable and too expensive for field applications
The increasing importance in the industry of accurate and cost effective testing has become a significant issue for everyone. Our vast experience in nanoparticle and exhaust gas technologies has allowed us to develop not only a rugged, portable and cost effective solid particle counter, but we brought the solid particle counting to the next step. We take it on the road.
Our all-new NanoMet genearation solid particle counter which will be presented at the Testing allows to measure a large number of vehicles within short time. Rather than extrapolating test bench results to real world conditions, we can test during real driving, increasing the significance of results and helping to keep cost per test low. As demonstrated in PMP, our mobile solid particle counting system will help you to develop the cleanest cars not only on test bench scale, but in larger numbers.
The all-New NanoMet solid particle counter is based on our patented diffusion battery technology coupled with a newly developed raw gas diluter. The counting instrument uses electrical charging to count particles.
The use of a revolutionary counting instrument not based on traditional optical or inconvenient butanol method but on a unipolar diffusion charging allows extremely simple handling and a dramatic reduction in size. This technology makes counting of particles independent of vibration and the physical position of the equipment, and provides on-line data with second-by-second time resolution.
